C'est dans cette demeure fortifiée qu'Edouard Herriot (maire de Lyon 1905-1940 / 1945- 1957) choisit de passer la fin de sa vie lorsqu'il acquit cette demeure, construite au XIIIe siècle pour la famille Laure, et remaniée au XVIe siècle.
