The Carnival is a well-established, yet surprising tradition in Nerja which gathers more interest and momentum year on year as participants and visitors work on costumes and floats with ever more imagination. The Carnival takes place over a four day period (three days and an evening at least) in the week just before the start of Lent and as with many of the towns events finds its religious basis over spilling with the natural Spanish love of a good celebration.
