Der Titanwurz im Botanischen Garten von Köln blüht 18 Jahre nach der Aussaat zum ersten Mal. Die Blüte dauert nur 2 Tage. Das Bild ist am zweiten Tag entstanden, als die Blüte bereits wieder anfing sich zu schließen. Bis zur nächsten Blüte muss man voraussichtlich wieder zwei bis drei Jahre warten.
Bei dem Titanwurz handelt es sich um die Pflanze mit dem größten unverzweigten Blütenstand der Welt.
