Mausoluem of Edward Bliss

The Bliss Mausoleum was erected by Edward Bliss, an opulent manufacturer of gun flints who amassed a great fortune during the Napoleonic Wars. He died on 2 April 1845, and his wife, Sarah, followed him in 1859 and was interred there too.
Set in the grounds of what now is Brandon Country Park The Edward Bliss Mausoleum is a beautiful gothic style chapel and resting place. This beautiful building is surrounded by Irish Yews and undeniably has an interesting feel.

Now home only to Pipistrelle Bats after the remains of Edward and his wife were moved to a local cemetary in the 20th Century, it's a peaceful place worthy of a visit or an ideal place for a rest if you're walking around the park.

The Mausoleum is reputed to be haunted by Edward's nephew, Henry Bliss. He has allegedly been seen by a number of people, always dressed in knee breeches and a deer stalker. Baron is also believed to have been seen wandering the grounds close to the mausoleum, carrying a candle-lit human skull. To this day, no one knows who or what he might be searching for.
