Better than plastic bottles I guess!

I don't think this is better than plastic bottles. It can trap the legs of sea birds, sea mammals and fish. I also think that it might take even longer than plastic bottles to biodegrade.

My comment was a little less serious than it should have been I accept, however at least now the subject of plastic waste is being dicussed and some action being taken at long last.
The local beach clean group on this stretch of beach concentrate on plastic bottles etc as they are more prevalent than other items and easier to handle,
This particular debris has probably come from a fishing boat whose captain and crew should know a great deal better.
