There was a luna eclipse visible in Australia early on the morning of 26/07/2018. My view was from the upstairs room at home (I was interested to see it but not keen enough to get dressed and drive to a better viewpoint). This is as the sunlight on the moon was shrinking This is a crop of a hand held shot with a P&S camera. A red and a white star can also be seen.

A pity it was such an awful hour here! I dived out of bed, grabbed a shot, then retreated as promptly. :-)

I'm surprised at how well they turned out. There was no room to use the tripod. Also attempts had to be timed for it not being blocked by the gum tree, which is the source of the dark marks on this shot. The positive was that the morning was unusually mild for July.
