i love the sound of them cicada's ..:) and i try to get shots of them around my garden but my camera is just a cheap version of Nikon and i find it hard to get close ups **********

The camera I used for this shot was $85 from OfficeWorks back in 2011. So not very impressive.

Keep practicing, it doesn't cost much to do with a digital cameras.

My camera has a control which switches between Normal and Macro. The Macro setting lets it focus down to 2 cm from the subject.

If there is a focus setting for focusing only in the middle of the picture use this. It is easier to get the subject focused.
