The Queensland State Government has been running steam powered trains to celebrate 150 years of government railway operations. This one ran from Brisbane to Charleville and return. Seen here approaching Grantham as it heads to Toowoomba. May 2015.

Isn't it great that steam can still be seen on the main line occasionally!

Yes. However, on this line it may change in a few years as this line will be rebuilt in dual SG & 3'6" as part of the Melbourne to Brisbane SG (aka Inland Rail) currently under construction by way of upgrading existing track in NSW. A many kilometres long tunnel climbing the range to near Toowoomba may change what can happen. It's unclear now whether the 3'6" west and south of Toowoomba will remain or be closed or have parts dual gauged and other parts closed. A new SG route is to be built from northern NSW, north of Moree, to Gowrie just out of Toowoomba. Search 'photos' using grantham rail qld to find other shots here, though there are a few others mis-identified.

At this stage this straight section will be used but the cutting behind me will be straightened and a different route used.

This location is mid screen at 1:16 in the 2nd video with the above train approaching from the right.
The 3rd shows a new route from this line cross country to the current SG route from NSW to Brisbane. A concrete sleeper upgrade several years ago also added dual gauge to south of where the new route will join it at Kagaru. I'm not aware of any 3'6" trains running on it yet though.
