The cover off the counter to plan modifications to run from 12v car battery etc. It surprised me that the power transformer was centre tapped to earth and each side feeding a single diode ala valve rectifier ccts of old.

Interessant onderwerp,Graham,ik werkte 31 jaar op een glasfabriek en hier waren heel veel machines uit de USA .in al deze machines zaten voedingen waarin de trafo een midden aftakking had en 2 enkele diodes,dus dat was daar normaal! Ook werkte alles op 110 V en in nederland is 220 V normaal! Groeten Frans....

Thanks for your info Frans. I can't remember a transformer supply which didn't use one winding and a bridge rectifier. Now most things seem to have a switching power supply and these make the national power grid voltage irrelevant for the gear. My trade background is telecoms transmission and two-way radio.
