The Church of St. Pius X - Lourdes, France
Underground Church, the main entrance is located between the esplanade entrance St Michel and the statue of the Crowned Virgin. The entrance is easy to identify as reported by the cross of the Eucharistic Congress of 1981.
Another entrance is located on the Boulevard Rémy Sempé just before the St Joseph door.
The Church is certainly one of the greatest liturgical construction of the world with its 12000 square meters and provides access to 25,000 people.
Designed by architect Pierre Vago assisted by Pinsard architects and Le Donné, the Church was consecrated March 25, 1958 by Cardinal Roncalli (the future Pope John XXIII and now Saint) on the occasion of the centenary of the apparitions.
The interior is characterized by the arrangement within 58 pillars making 29 arches form a large porch along which you can admire the suggestive "Gemmail" reproducing the 14 Stations of the Cross (west side) operates the De Solere and the 15 mysteries of the Rosario (east side) operates the Falcuci.
At the center of the Church is the altar of the Blessed Sacrament Chapel (also called the Chapel of Peace of Christ) under which a relic is kept St. Pius X
