Unusual visitor

We had this unusual visitor the other day. Somehow this little chap who was smaller than a mouse found his way indoors and did not seem to want to leave. He spent two nights inside flying from room to room then hiding during the day before he could be caught and finally released outside. Best guess he is a Common Pipistrelle variety of bat.

Superb video! Happy to hear he was successfully "rescued" and released outdoors! Stay well!

So glad you were able to release him! Our bats in the northeast US have taken a major hit from white nose syndrome. We used to see them by the hundreds hunting mosquitos at dusk, now we're lucky if we see one or two.

There's lots of bats around my little home and guess they roost in the nearby farm buildings.
Not heard of white nose syndrome and a Google search does indeed say it a serious concern in North America. Hope that disease doesn't find its way here.

I have never had a close look at one like this but have had the excitement of a bat in the house in the middle of the night. It only ever happened once but must have come down a chimney. I awake aware of a noise downstairs put the centre light on and it just went round in circles. I opened the living room door and and a front door and it soon found the way out… very impressive
