Blue Jay on Ice

Blue Jay on Ice
The ice storm in Ontario last month made for some slippery perching conditions. Instead of a branch, this Blue Jay is holding on to the thick layer of ice covering the branch!

Great shot of this Blue Jay on ice. We have anywhere from 8-10 every morning at our feeder along with nuthatches and over a dozen Chickadees. And can not forget the Grey Jays.

I love chickadees! We didn't have many where I was, and blue jays were pretty rare too, as were cardinals. Lots of juncos and mourning doves mostly. And of course, squirrels!

Beautiful. I like those icy branches, too, against the blue sky.
