Elegant Frescoes
The exterior of Ganesh Pol ( built in 1640) in the Amber Fort near Jaipur, India consists of intricately painted flowers and designs. The original fort on this site dated from the 11th century.

Ganesh Pol
This gateway in the Amber Fort outside of Jaipur, India, was built in 1640 and leads to the private apartments of the rulers. The screened upper level was for the ladies in purdah so that they could look out, but not be seen.

Palace of the Winds
The Hawa Mahal or Palace of the Winds was constructed in 1799 in Jaipur, India out of pink sandstone, lime and mortar. Five stories high, yet only one room wide, its purpose was to allow the sequestered ladies of the court to view the outside world through screened windows.
