Holmes was here (Explored)

For The Sunday Challenge: Prop box. I don't have a prop box so I ran all over the house, raiding the bookshelf, my husband's closet, his old Halloween costume and the walls for this shot. CIMG 3034

Supermoon

"A supermoon is the coincidence of a full moon or a new moon with the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit, resulting in the largest apparent size of the lunar disk as seen from Earth. The technical name is the perigee-syzygy of the Earth-Moon-Sun system." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supermoon But really, it is a good excuse to get out the Tamron 150-600 and shoot a (relatively) stationary object. Scruffy (Explored)

The challenge this week for the Sunday Challenge Group was selective lighting. I decided to photograph Scruffy, my toy Indian elephant. Not owning the proper equipment, I used a cookie box as a camera base because my tripod would not go low enough to the ground. I put a crappy flashlight with uneven lighting on the floor at a 45 degree angle to Scruffy to provide an interesting light source. SLIMG 3731

Attack of the Hollywood Robots (Explored)

The Sunday Challenge: Forced Perspectives. The real Robby the Robot was a 7 foot tall creation that made his first appearance in the 1956 film, Forbidden Planet. He later appeared in a number of television series including, Lost in Space and The Addams Family. For more information about Robby, check out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robby_the_Robot . This model is less than a foot tall. I posed him near a very large house and used a narrow aperture to get the best depth of field. I also used flash to avoid having the much lighter background overwhelm the subject. AIMG 4117
