It's great to be green

This photo was taken by my husband during a night dive in Curaçao. Octopus hunt during the night and can be seen by divers using a waterproof flashlight. Night dives are very eerie because one can only see what is illuminated by the flashlight.

A NIGHT DIVE? Jeez, he must be nuts Esther! I don't like putting my face under in daylight. Thank God for people getting shots like this, coz it's never gonna be me! Amazing.

Thank you for your comments. After my husband took this photo, I held out my flashlight and let him (or her) explore it. He grabbed my hand rather tightly. Since octopus have beaks that can crush shells, that was close enough for me. Once (before I realized that they had beaks), I lay down on the bottom of the ocean to watch one. He came up to me and crawled inside my BC (the air-filled jacket that divers wear) and grabbed me tightly around the waist. Fortunately, I had been told that to encourage an octopus to leave, just float upwards. It worked.
