A few photos of the River Porter waterfall in spate on 8th November 2019, following a few days of continuous rain.

One of the secret places of Sheffield's countryside, this waterfall is in the upper reaches of the River Porter between Ringinglow and Fulwood Mills. Here the Porter flows over a 4 metre-high bench of Redmires Flags, part of the 'Millstone Grit' series in the Upper Carboniferous.

There was perhaps even more water coming over the falls shortly after the notorious Sheffield floods in June 2007:

But normally it is quite a docile river, looking like this in low-flow times:
