The end of the Lyke Wake Walk

The end of the Lyke Wake Walk
The Lyke Wake Walk is a long distance footpath across the North Yorkshire Moors - 40 miles from Osmotherley in the west, to Ravenscar radio mast in the east. The mast is the official finish of the walk, although intrepid walkers will want to do the last mile mile or so down to the sea (after 40 miles, it's getting back up to the road again that's the problem!).

This photo shows the final ascent over Howdale Moor to Stoupe Brow and the Ravenscar mast.

The cotton grass (Eriophorum angustifolium) was lovely on this occasion - carpeting the moor with its silvery-white shimmer.
