Grindstone steps at the Shepherd Wheel, Sheffield

Grindstone steps at the Shepherd Wheel, Sheffield
These grindstone steps are at the Shepherd Wheel, in Bingham Park in the Porter Valley on the west side of Sheffield. The Shepherd Wheel is a grinding 'hull' dating back to the 18th century where a waterwheel was used to power grindstones for shaping and sharpening blades for cutlery, scythes, etc. The steps lead up to the waterwheel enclosure.
