California Backside (Eastern)
Folder: California
California's backside, the area largely ignored in tourist images of the state but quite popular with those in the know. Roughly along US 395, the Sierras and Cascades to the Nevada border. From Tule Lake to Owens Valley, including Tehachapi, and around Lake Isabella.
Photos are in order by place name.
The desert portions of this area are in the California Desert album.

Very large solar array at Kramer Junction. I could not get enough elevation to get a good picture, but the area that looks like a lake is the reflectors. See the satellite view.

Lake Isabella, very low due to the previous winter's drought. Barely visible in the center of the picture is the alternative dam. In the larger picture you can see that the water level is below the base of the dam.

Lake Isabella, very low due to the previous winter's drought. The land on the other side of the lake is Kissack Bay, with Kissack Cove being at the point that is on the right side of the picture.

Looking towards Kissack Bay/Cove. The tree stumps weren't visible when I was there just 6 months before. And, 'no', what looks like a human on the left side of the picture isn't, it's a tree stump.
