Outside Tonopah, on US 6 across from the turnoff for Belmont is Tonopah airport (still active) and the remains of the Tonopah Army Airfield. The base was a center of training during WW II, but was abandoned soon after the end of the war. Though there are relatively few standing remains of buildings, the 60+ year old wooden hangars that housed bombers are surprisingly intact -- and some are still used by local entities.

In the foreground is the foundation of some building, and then an ammo dump, with part of an ammo dump appearing in the distance. The ammo dumps have entrances into the storage area under the mound on the longer side. Considering the construction, I'm assuming that the shorter side was a blast barrier.

Mizpah Hotel. I was quite surprised to see it open, it had been closed for many years. The inside was nicely refurbished and the room prices quoted by the desk clerk were quite reasonable.

The (former) electrical company..... the very bright spot in the top of the picture is due to the sun showing through a break in the clouds.
