Cumbres & Toltec Railroad 'fever' (# 0114)
A lone locomotive, possibly a helper locomotive for an earlier train, coming down towards Chama, NM from Cumbres Pass, CO.
It was at about this point that I caught the ‘fever’ of chasing trains on the Cumbres & Toltec. I had seen this locomotive a little earlier from the highway, but didn’t have a place to stop. When I got to the point for taking this picture, there were multiple others there taking pictures and trading comments about where to find trains and the good spots to shoot photos of them. The people chasing the train to get pictures were a mix of railfans and ordinary families with kids, which made it interesting (for me) to see the cross-sections of people interested in history.
