Description | I recently bought what I call my 'pocket camera', it's a compact Nikon S7000 that readily fits in my pocket and is much better (though clearly not perfect) for night photography than I am with my standard camera. I rarely do night photography, but decided to give it a try on my last trip to SF – here and following pictures are the results...Pictured here is what was the historic Alhambra theater; the Alhambra was built in Moorish Revival style in 1926 and its exterior has been very nicely maintained so as to illustrate that style. The theater was converted into twin screens in 1976 and then reopened as a single screen in 1988. Some time in the late 1980’s I had a very memorable experience there seeing a special release of "West Side Story" with a restored sound track. ..Considering the number of very good performance and projection spaces in San Francisco, and considering that this is on the edge of an entertainment district, I was expecting that this theater might be rundown or closed. I was thus shocked to see that it had been converted into a gym, though per the Cinematreasures.com page, the quality of the interior has been preserved relatively well. ..http://cinematreasures.org/p hotos?page=1&theater_id=22 47 (many good photos) |
