Hart Mountain, OR 1025a

Site of the former Civilian Conservation Corp camp on the west side of Hart Mountain. I was told that this was the only remaining building and was the infirmary. A group of volunteers is working to restore the camp.

Hart Mountain National Wildlife Refuge was created in 1936 to protect pronghorn antelope. I've been across it twice and seen only a couple of antelope, but the sheer emptiness and vastness of it makes it worth a visit.
