CA-127 / rejection of solar project (2789)

CA-127 / rejection of solar project (2789)
CA-127 looking south from the climb to Ibex pass. In November, 2014, the BLM announced that it was disproving a solar project that would have covered 24 square miles along this road, at a location just beyond the point where the road turns to the left. The reasoning was that "proposal would have industrialized 24 square miles of “a largely undisturbed valley that supports wildlife, an important piece of the Old Spanish National Historic Trail, and recreational and scenic values.” (see: www.latimes.com/local/california/la-me-1121-silurian-rejection-20141121-story.html)

This is one of those spots where it's easy to get lost in the enormity of the landscape. I liked this road.

It gets much more impressive when you take it across I-15 on to Kelbaker road. Quite a bit of variation in scenery, and very little traffic.

See the revised description noting the denial of plans for a nearby solar project.
