These are some pics from our 2.5 week Iceland trip in September 2014. During our last visit to Iceland in June 2013 (see www.ipernity.com/doc/detlevm/album/454309 and www.ipernity.com/doc/detlevm/album/464351) some people told us, that September is the most beautiful month to visit Iceland. Erecting a New Hotel in Siglufjörður
It seems, that people can't live anymore from fishing, and so they decided, due to the beautiful surroundings, to invest in tourism. So they are erecting a brandnew hotel very next to the harbour. People's opinions are ambiguous with this project. On the one hand they say, that there's absoulutely no need to have a hotel in the middle of the harbour, on the other hand most of the people understand, that tourism is important for the surviving of the city.

Driftwood at Jökulsárlón
They say, that it comes, embedded in ice floes, from the Sibirian coast. Mainly it's found on the northern coast of Iceland. This one I found, in addition to three others, on the south-eastern coast in the very near of glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón.
Driftwood is one of the most important wood sources in Iceland.
