This late in November at this latitude (57°35'N) the sun barely clears the horizon by more than 12 degrees. This gives us very long shadows in midday, for a month or so at least.

Thank you. I tried, partly unsuccessfully, to disguise my shadow - but not quite up to imitating the slender willows beside me!
