Pond Yellow Flag Iris

Pond Yellow Flag Iris
Planting these in a pond garden is fraught with danger - they are highly invasive. If they had been allowed to, over twelve years they would have taken over an entire pond. These, the blue variety, Bullrushes, and Canadian pondweed are the bane of my gardening life in summer in the pond garden. A neighbour with a larger pond tackles them by bulldozing them out every few years!

Sorry Joan, add those to my list as well. I planted out a 100' long new flowerbed over the winter with about 750 tulips, forty rose bushes and 200 assorted perennials. I can't imagine what I was thinking, but as an afterthought, I sprinkled a handful of Californian poppy seeds along the entire bed. Their greenery has almost entirely taken over, although they are not in flower yet. I suspect I shall have to hoe out a good chunk of them, and take care to collect all the seed heads before they self-seed.
