~ swans of stratford ~

~ swans of stratford ~
the river has burst its banks once more
and was flowing very fast yesterday ~ the swans
in some parts of the river were having difficulty
floating serenely as they normally do, and the
nature reserve area where many of them nest is
now under water and although a beautiful sight
to see as the sun was setting, it is a worrying time
as more rain and winds are forecast. The little videos
below show how fast the River Avon is flowing at the
moment and how difficult it is for them. We feed them
special "Swan Food" which they love and now they
recognise us and trust us and will eat out of our
hands . . .

for NADINE ~ thinking of you ~

The first little video shows the flooding of the Band Stand and looking over
towards the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and Waterside !

the River Avon at Stratford on Avon overlooking the Band Stand and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre

Second video shows the old bridge over the River Avon,
where it is flowing very fast indeed and has flooded where
the Boat House is located. It does not flow fast like this
normally and is safe for pleasure and rowing boats !

The Lord may grant an interrupt of rain you have to suffer from.

o0o I sincerely hope so and soon ... its pretty terrible in many places,
not good here ... but far worse in some other areas ... but more rain on
the way ... its been like this since around 9th December and has not
really let up ... only a day or two in between of respite and then its rained
during the night ... today a wind and a bit of rain suspected ... respite
maybe for today ... but more to come ... I am sorry for the trees ..they
are standing in water ... and many will not survive. Thankfully the
wildlife is struggling but many feed them at Stratford and so they should
be ok ... they could fly away of course ... but so many fields and areas
where they might go to ... is flooded ... its a difficult time for them all.
Owls ... and birds of prey ... they will soon be finding it difficult too ...
more are coming into our gardens for food ... our little birds are being
taken .. I know its nature but never the less ... its terrible to hear them
cry out when they are being taken by the hawks. o0o

How sad!
But Mother Nature surely is able to recover itself sooner or later.
The annoying fact are the wet feet for folks in the lowlands, right?

Our weather looks much better.
I am entirely sure, we had more hours of sun in January 2014, than in the complete first half of 2013. It's ridiculous. But not unlikely that Easter 2014 might become a "white" one. We shall see.
beverleyplaya has replied to Tacheles
o0o Yes agreed, Mother Nature normally redresses the balance, and perhaps
we will have another wonderful summer ;-) maybe but with no hosepipe bans ;-)
and yes the lowlands are suffering terribly and Prince Charles is to visit tomorrow ;-)
hehe ... I am saying nothing about that one ... but there is no end in sight for them,
and extra high spring tides are causing havoc ... it must be terrible to have your
home constantly under water and some have managed to clear it all away just
to get it all return again ... that is just to terrible ... even our little garden in places
started to flood slightly ... but it drain away ... it does ... but the little fountain the
birds drink and bathe on had to be emptied out ... the pump could barely cope
with the deluge ... happy days ;-) and you have more hours of sun in January ;-)
enjoy ... send some this way please or at least bring it with you when you came
here to visit ;-) o0o

do you think you could stop dancing please .. I think its the rain dance you
are doing that is causing all the problems here ;-)

Beautiful light and reflections. Not so beautiful in reality: much water. Annemarie added an image of the water in Rome. Strange winter and changing climate: some countries have too much water, some too much snow and others (like Holland) much too warm.
beverleyplaya has replied to Enista (see: www.fli…
o0o Hi Enista, the temperature here last week went milder along with the rain
which made the birds think it was spring, along with high spring tides, its terrible
for the flood planes that have been under water now and rising for over six weeks,
loss of life and so much livestock dead the farmers are having a terrible time
also ... I am not sure how much coverage is given to other countries about the
predicament here ... but being an Island the rivers flow to the sea to ease the
level of water that drains from the land ... when high tides occur then the
rivers cannot satisfactorily empty ... hence then the inland flooding, some
parts have become islands ... and cannot be got to without boats taking
food supplies etc to them ... it is very very bad in many parts of the country
and I am inland and see the River Avon ... the River Seven which has severe
flood warnings because of it breaking its banks and more high tides, it is
a terrible situation which seems to have no end in sight, the pictures show
the beauty of reflections at sunset and so lovely to see ... but in reality ...
I have seen the severity in this area when the River Avon bursts its banks,
as it is doing ... its terrible ... I just hope we have an easing of the rain,
if only for a day or two ... which will help. Today has been rain free here
and so hope no more overnight :-) we can but hope. oOo

o0o there was much force behing the river flowing,
even the swans at one part of the river had difficulties
it was sad to see them without their nesting area
