Crossing the Alps

1st Method: by car / truck / bus. (The picture shows one of the possiblities, the Wipptal with the Brenner Highway , which leads from Innsbruck (Austria) to Bozen (Italy). ~~~~~ 1. Methode: mit dem PKW / LKW / Reisebus. (Die Aufnahme zeigt das Wipptal mit der Brenner-Autobahn , die von Innsbruck (Österreich) nach Bozen (Italien) führt.

2nd Method: by train. (The picture shows the railway through the Wipptal from Innsbruck (Austria) to Bozen (Italy). It's the railway connection with the highest traffic density in Europe: Every 6 minutes a train - 240 a day. It's works at it's limit.) ~~~~~ 2. Methode: mit der Eisenbahn. (Die Aufnahme zeigt die Trasse der Brenner-Eisenbahn durch das Wipptal von Innsbruck (Österreich) nach Bozen (Italien). Mit 240 Zügen täglich ist die Strecke an der absoluten Auslastungsgrenze. Das bedeutet: alle 6 Minuten ein Zug!)

3rd method: with a MTB. By that a complete crossing from north to south takes 4 until 6 days, depending from the chosen route. All in all you have to surmount 12,000 until 18,000 meters of altitude. (The above picture was captured within the backmost Ötztal (Austria), where you may branch of from your way to the Timmelsjoch into the Langtal. At the end of June 2014 there still was a lot of snow at approximately 2,300 m of altitude.) ~~~~~ 3. Methode: mit dem Mountainbike. Eine komplette Nord-Süd-Transalp dauert dabei - je nach Route - 4 bis 6 Tage. Insgesamt sind dabei 12.000 bis 18.000 Höhenmeter zu überwinden. (Das Bild oben entstand im hinteren Ötztal, wo man vor dem Timmelsjoch ins Langtal abzweigen kann. Dort lag Ende Juni 2014 - auf ca. 2.300 m Seehöhe - noch reichlich Schnee.)

4th method: Hiking. 7th method: Like ants. (Captured while climbing to the summit of Großglockner (3,798m, Carinthia/Tyrol, Austria). Coming from the left you have to climb ~50 ft. steply sloping into a notch, before you may conquer the summit of the highest mountain of Austria - only with climbing irons, of course. At this mountain is always all hell let loose. ~~~~~ 7te Methode: Wie die Ameisen. (Aufgenommen bei einer Besteigung des Großglockner (3.798m, Kärnten/Tirol, Österreich). Von links kommend muss man zumächst über den Gipfel des Kleinglockner , dann noch mal 17m steil runter in die Obere Glocknerscharte , bevor man zum Hauptgipfel auffi kraxeln kann - natürlich nur mit Steigeisen.
