I am self employed as an IT Consultant and work most weekends (from home remotely), so most of my photography is from midweek. even then I have to sometimes wait for a suitable shot to present itself, and try to crop as close as is needed to the subject, to eliminate "distractions". I have to admit that I will sometimes edit out a minor distraction from the shot such as a toe of a shoe etc that creeps into shot . Of course if you are polite, but obviously waiting, most people will stop for a few seconds to allow you the get the shot
