1965 Cadillac Sedan De Ville - ECD 576C

1965 Cadillac Sedan De Ville - ECD 576C
Well, it's a 1965 Caddy, but other than that I've no idea.

Hopefully, someone out there can help and maybe even tell me what's with the straps coming off the front bumper?

Interesting suggestion. Guess I'm just going to need and try to hunt the owner down!

So, basically, it's just something the Japanese dreamed up to imitate the old American Buicks? I don't think it looks good on a Cadillac like this. Or at least this type of vent doesn't work with the aesthetics of the car's lines.

JDM refers to products intended specifically for the Japanese Domestic Market. So any given car might have trim or mechanical parts that you wouldn't see on or in the same model intended for export.

For example a lot of the engines and how they were set up were more powerful when fitted to cars intended for the domestic market and so a trend developed outwith Japan to try and get or at least mimic those parts.

The whole VIP thing seems to be more tied into the luxury look, big limousines and so on hence the connection to the Yakuza.

Or at least that's my understanding of it from what little I've read online.

The side trim at the mid-line is indicative of Sedan de Ville model for '65.
Fleetwood model had brightwork on the rocker panels (below the doors) and lower rear quarters.
The thingy (technical term) on the fender must just be part of the trend to put simulated Buick VentiPorts on everything. Why they would thinks this adds anything to Cadillac style is beyond me. : [
