1945 Chevrolet Pick-Up - OAZ 1945

1945 Chevrolet Pick-Up - OAZ 1945
Here's another I've seen a few times and can't get enough of.

I think I described it before as one of those "if I ever win the lottery" hot rods!

, Delirium, Indycaver (Norm) have particularly liked this photo

I'd think this would be a rare one between the war department relaxing civilian truck production in August of that year and the labor strike that soon followed. Great photo and truck ... and the right color! :-)

Hadn't appreciated that Norm, thanks for the background! Glad you like it too.

I got the GMC book yesterday. Not as helpful as I would have hoped, but 1945 truck production was half of what it was in 1946 and one third of what it was in 1947. It was clear civilian pickups in any of the war years would have been low production numbers with most of the production going to 4x4 large trucks. This truck would also not of come with a chrome grille ... they were all painted in 1945. It would be a rare survivor in any case!

Thanks for that Norm, really interesting. Like you say it's a rare survivor given the low production numbers and everything else that was going on back then!

Chevrolet got back into production a month ahead of GMC, but the numbers would still be low.
