Taubenschwänzchen

Das Taubenschwänzchen ist ein Schmetterling (Nachtfalter) aus der Familie der Schwärmer. Er fliegt im Schwirrflug von Blüte zu Blüte und ist manchmal auch tagsüber aktiv.
Sein deutscher Name leitet sich vom zweigeteilten Hinterleibsschwänzchen ab. Es hat ein Flugverhalten, das dem eines Kolibris ähnelt; deshalb auch Kolibrischwärmer genannt.

Excellent photo. There are related species in North America. We call them "hummingbird moths". We also have hummingbirds, of course, which have a much more powerful flight style.

Thank you Ronald, ! I had never seen them before, until it came now on our lavender bush. I did not even know it was a butterfly. They fly so lively, that you can barely see what it is. In the photo it was to See more crearly.
