Hershey's Banjo, Fudjo, and Creamsicle Ice Cream Bars
"Still only 5¢. Hershey's Banjo, vanilla ice cream coated with rich chocolate. Fudjo, a delicious chocolate fudge confection. Creamsicle, a combination of sherbet and vanilla ice cream."

The Hershey Creamery Company (not to be confused with Hershey's, the chocolate manufacturer) makes Hershey's Ice Cream products in Harrisburg, Pa. This colorful store sign dates to the 1960s and advertises three ice cream bars that the company still sells (for more than 5 cents, unfortunately) today--Banjo, Fudjo (now called Fudge-O), and Creamsicle (now Orange Blossom) bars.

Great sign. I have never heard that classic vanilla ice cream bar coated with chocolate shell called a banjo. But as a product name, I like it.

I've never heard it called a Banjo Bar either (it sounds like a place to go hear bluegrass music, actually)! The company's Web site has marked the link to info about the bar as "new," but doesn't explain why. Perhaps they've recently reintroduced the name. I think it would be fun if they'd redesign the product shape and outside packaging so it would look like a banjo.
