Studied with his mother and at the School of Singing Weilich-Tipka in Graz and later with Julius Stockhausen in Frankfurt and Main. Debut at Graz 1888 as The Hunter in “Nachtlager von Granada” by Kreutzer .He then secured an engagement at the Cologne Opera where he remained until 1894.He obtained a 3 contract with Hamburg Opera,after which he moved to the Berlin Imperial Opera where he remained until his retirement . He retired in 1919 and taught singing at Conservatory of Stern .He made appearances throughout Germany ,Austria and Netherlands. Roles included as Hans Sachs in “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg “ by Wagner , Lysiart in “Euryanthe. “ by von Weber , Wolfram in “Tannhäuser” by Wagner, Alberich in “ Ring des Nibelungen” by Wagner,Valentin in “Faust” by Gounod.

Emilie Herzog

Studied at the Zurich School of Music with Karl Gloggner, then in Munich with Adolf Shimon and Amalie Schonchen. She made her debut in 1880 at the Court Opera in Munich as Page Urbain in the "Huguenots" by Meyerbeer. She stayed for nine years in Munich She was in Munich on 06.29.1888 in the world premiere of Richard Wagner's youth opera "Die Feen" in the role of Drolla and in 1885 she had "participated there at the premiere of Alexander Knight Lazy Hans". After 1883, she sang several times at the Festival of Bayreuth. In 1889 she was appointed to the Berlin Court Opera and in 1892 she appeared at the Berlin Court Opera in the premiere of the opera "Genesius" by Felix von Weingartner, 1898 in the of "Don Quixote" by W. Kienzl, 1905 in the E. Humperdinck's "Marriage Reluctant" In 1893 she sang at the court theater of Gotha in the world premiere of "The Rose of Pontevedra" of Josef Foerster. Guest appearances have taken her to the opera houses of London and Paris, Vienna , Brussels ,Imperial Court Opera in Moscow and Metropolitan Opera New York. She was also an excellent concert and oratorio soloist. From 1903 she was a teacher at the Academy of Music in Berlin, but was still singing to 1910 at the city's Court Opera. 1910-22 teacher at the Conservatory of Zurich. Roles included Papagena in "The Magic Flute" by Mozart , Marcellina in "Fidelio" by Beethovan , Annie in "Freischütz" by Weber , Micaela in "Carmen " by Bizet , Mistress Anne and Mistress Ford in " Merry Wives of Windsor " Nicolai ,Queen of the Night in "The Magic Flute" by Mozart ,, Kostanze in "Abduction from the Seraglio" by Mozart , Marie in Donizetti's "Daughter of the Regiment" by Donizetti and as Gilda in "Rigoletto".by Verdi.
