Although, like Isabel, I find no spiritual dimension in churches for myself, I can see how the POV here, as well as the azulejos blending with the blue sky, can work very well to suggest the idea of the church as a connection to "heaven" to those who have faith.

Many years ago I stopped practicing it, but whenever I enter a church I can't erase that past
But even if I had been raised in an atheist environment, I would know, like you, how to separate art and religion, as it happens when I enter a temple of any other religion
