This is a view from Almada to the disabled shipyards of Lisnave and the wide section of River Tagus estuary.
I stood where once it was an island - in the pliocene period, 10 million years ago. The sea level was much higher and there was a single estuary for River Tagus (Lisbon) and River Sado (Setúbal). All the plains of the present Setúbal Peninsula were under water and the higher mounts were just islands.

The senior lady driving this 2 months old car thought this was the access to the parking. In fact it is, but only for pedestrians... She stopped the car after the first stairstep. The visible front wheel was in contact with the step, but the left front wheel hovered above it. To make it harder, the bottom of the bodywork below the left doors was directly supported on the pavement. The rescue car solved the problem, but I wasn't there to see how.

It was brought from Tondela council (central Portugal). I took this photo at home. The € 1 coin gives a fair idea about the onion's size.

This is a view from Cacilhas (Almada riverside). A low narrow stripe of fog near the north riverside only allows to see the higher parts of Lisbon.
We can see two 40 years old ferries for passengers: one, bound to Cacilhas, leaving the fog; another, bound to Lisbon, entering the fog.
