Terena

A view to the keep and doorway of the castle. Terena is a civil parish of Alandroal, at about 9 km south of the latter.

Water reservoir near Terena, in Alandroal council. This is a section of Lucefécit River, a small tributary of River Guadiana.

This church is also a shrine and a pilgrimage occurs on the municipal holiday - on the monday 8 days after Easter sunday. This massive architecture was inspired in fortresses, in order to ensure protection against invaders - in the 14th century such possibility was not excluded.
