Eggbuckland Fish & Chips, Hayes Place, Eggbuckland, Plymouth 16 August 2016
The curious name derives from the Saxon "bocheland" meaning "royal land held by charter", and Ecca, a Saxon chief to whom William I granted the land. It became Egg Buckland in the 17th Century and Eggbuckland by 1902. It only became part of Plymouth after WW2 being up until then a village on its outskirts.
