Cathays Cemetery, Cardiff 7 September 2015

Cathays Cemetery, Cardiff 7 September 2015
A member of the Irish Diaspora, a descendant of the Irish who flocked to South Wales and its burgeoning industries in the 19th Century.

The cemetery was opened in 1859, and interments are still taking place there. Of the three chapels originally built there, two remain, both Grade II Listed. During WW2 the cemetery received a direct hit which destroyed many graves, including CWGC graves from WW1.
