I think this might be a dunlin, a shorebird heading for a slough in the upper left of this image. This was taken in Grasslands National Park, West Block.

no, I don't think. The beak and the legs are too long. For me, it is probably a marbled godwit but I can be wrong. am not a specialist for shore birds.

Thanks, Jean-michel. I think you may be right. I'm going to do more digging, so to speak. I'm surprised the godwit didn't appear in my app for the birds of Western Canada.

curious because in my book, the Sibley, it is said on the map that they are nesting in saskatchewan and Alberta.

I checked wiki and another source and both state that they nest in the short grasslands of Alberta and Saskatchewan. That is good enough for me.
