"Signed lower left Magritte-- signed again, inscribed and dated on the reverse Magritte La Place au Soleil 1956-- pen and India ink of paper
"10 1/8 X 7 1/4 in. (26 X 19.5 cm.)
"Drawn in 1956.
"Provenance: Marcel Havrenne, Brussles (acquired as a gift from the artist and thence by descent to the present owner)
"There are two known paintings of this composition; a smaller version (collection of Mr. and Mrs. John de Cuevas, New York) and a larger one (formerly owned by the late Eleanor Hodes). There is also a preliminary pencil drawing for the female figure (collection Robert Rauschenberg, New York). This figure is based on Botticelli's Primavera (Galleria degli Uffizi, Florerence)
