Trumbull's Wanungatuck

Trumbull's Wanungatuck
Possibly at or near Trumbull's Wanungatuck.

From:

Trumbull, J. Hammond. Indian Names of Places Etc., In and On The Borders Of Connecticut: With Interpretations Of Some Of Them, Hartford, 1881. Web.

In his Composition of Indian Geographical Names, Trumbull proposed that wanungatuck comes from the roots wonki-tuk, "bent river" from this section of the Quinebaug River, saying that the name was then applied to the brook and hill. (Composition of Indian Geographical Names, 29)
