Nice hit Steve, My lens would probably focus on the nearest reed so I need to use manually override and usually the bird has gone by the time I get there.

Yes as written above, you must have a great camera to be able to get such clarity of this bird

It is a pretty good camera Jenny. It has one of the best focusing systems that you can get.

Thanks for commenting on the Grand Canyon photos, Steve. It's nice to know you've been there. We hiked part of the South Kaibab trail last year and wanted to hike it all the way this year but the weather did not allow it. Your wife is a brave and fit lady to have gone all the way to the bottom.
