It looks as if the tide is going to have to rise a bit more, before anyone can reach the steps up into the lighthouse.

Maeluk club has replied to Jenny McIntyre club
The tide had been in Jenny, the birds are on the breakwater waiting for it to go out. Once the tide goes out people take a ladder to reach the bottom step of the lighthouse from the sand. The oystercatchers follow the tide line as it recedes looking for their food. Ten minutes after I took the photos of the birds on the breakwater there wasn't a single bird on it, they had all taken to the sand.
