Not the best quality, but something of a historical record.
Marple Wharf Jn and signalbox. Stanier Black 5 4-6-0 45076 passes with an eastbound train on the main line Manchester to New Mills, the Hope Valley and Sheffield.
The diverging line goes to Marple Rose Hill, Bollington and Macclesfield, nowadays open only as far as Rose Hill, a couple of miles away.

A fine record shot. I took a train to Macclesfield in 1969 just before the through route closed.

Thanks. The trackbed from Rose Hill to Macclesfield was eventually converted into a cycleway/footpath, and I pedalled along it quite a few times when I lived in Romiley.
