past the boiling point...
The sorry remains of the original Kewanee Boiler Plant in Kewanee, IL. The plant first began in 1868,and by the early 1900's Kewanee boilers were in manufacturing plants, government buildings, schools and churches, and ships all over the world. The plant at one time employed 4000 workers and still had nearly a 1000 in the early '70s. But more efficient ways of powering and heating became available and the plant was finally shuttered in 2002. Today only the badly dilipidated office building and this single metal smoke stack remain on the site....
