Scavenge Hunt 17/50: Iets ruws
De storm Eunice houdt huis boven de Amstel. Windstoten en -vlagen laten water uit de Amstel opstuiven, tot minstens vijf meter hoog. De wind bulderde door de bomen en takken braken af. Sommige fietsers gingen te voet verder, er reden weinig auto’s en het OV was stilgelegd. Het was fascinerend maar ook gevaarlijk om buiten te zijn, ik ging hier naar huis. Het was code rood, d.w.z. het werd afgeraden om naar buiten te gaan, alleen als men moest. Later las ik dat vele bomen zijn omgevallen.
Rond het tijdstip van de opname bereikte de storm op Schiphol even 92 km/u (10 Beaufort) met windstoten tot 126 km/u.
In Amsterdam e.o. stierven drie mensen onder omvallende bomen.

Storm Eunice is wreaking havoc over the Amstel. Gusts and blasts of wind sent water flying up the Amstel, up to at least five metres high. The wind roared through the trees and branches broke off. Some cyclists continued on foot, few cars drove and public transport was halted. It was fascinating but also dangerous to be outside, I went home from work. It was code red, i.e. it was not recommended to go outside, only if one had to. Later I read that many trees fell down.
Around the time when I took the photo, the storm at Schiphol Airport reached 92 km/h (10 Beaufort) with gusts up to 126 km/h.
In the regio of Amsterdam three people died from falling trees.
