The Journey Ahead

The Journey Ahead
I am looking forward to an adventure into the beautiful parklands of America.

This photo was taken by a Kowa/SIX medium format film camera with a KOWA 1:3.5/55mm lens and Kowa L-1A ø67 filter using Kodak Portra 160 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Wonderful! I don't know why but I have a very different image of Nevada in my head! I shall have to re-think my pre.conception!

Most of the topography of Nevada is a harsh desert. However, in this part of North America, the environment is determined by altitude. The are many mountain ranges and massifs such as the pictured Great Basin National Park where the high altitude attracts moisture and one finds multiple levels of montane environments.
This stretch of road ends at a campground situated at 11,000 ft above sea level with a trailhead leading to the summit of Mt Wheeler, a 13,000+ ft peak. The trail leads through the timberline ancient bristlecone pine stands, a highlight of the difficult climb.
