Description | The Central Pacific Railroad No.1 Gov. Stanford is a forty-ton wood-burning steam locomotive and was the pioneer engine of the Central Pacific Railroad. It was built in 1862 in Philadelphia by Rich Norris & Son Builders, then shipped disassembled in crates around Cape Horn from Boston to San Francisco onboard the sailing vessel Herald of the Morning. It arrived in Sacramento on October 6,1863, by the river schooner Artful Dodger...This cropped photo was taken by a Zenza Bronica S2 medium format film camera with a NIKKOR-H 1:3.5 f=5cm lens and Zenza Bronica 82mm L-1A filter using Fuji 400-H film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop. |
